7-Zip is a free file archive manager that supports many different formats, including ZIP and RAR.

Features

7-Zip supports the creating and extraction of the following archive types: ZIP, Microsoft cabinet (CAB) files, RAR, ARJ, Z, gzip, bzip2, LHA, tar, cpio, rpm, deb, and ISO images.

In addition to those formats it can create 7z archives, which offer more compression than a standard ZIP.

7-Zip also offers many advanced features that cannot be found in equivalent commercial software. Theses include several different encryption methods, can be used as a file manager, can unpack corrupted archives, and produce self extracting archives.
